We offer the National Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course for 6 or 8 hours.

Why take the Defensive Driving Course?

INSURANCE REDUCTION

Under Georgia law O.C.G.A. 33-9-42, a reduction of not less than 10% in insurance premiums shall be available to licensed drivers 25 years of age or older, provided they have a clean driving record and successfully complete a course in defensive driving of not less than 6 hours. If under 25 years of age consult with your insurance agency.

POINTS REDUCTION

Drivers may take the 6 hour course, once every 5 years to reduce points off their driving record.

TICKET DISMISSAL & FINE REDUCTION

Some judges in the state of Georgia may dismiss or non-process a ticket for a moving violation if the offender completes the 6 hour program.  Some courts may allow an offender to complete the course, which will result in a reduction of the fine.

LICENSE RESTORATION- UNDER AGE 21

Individuals under 21 years old will have their driver’s license suspended for a minimum of 6 months for the conviction of ONE moving violation, if the violation results in the assessment of 4 or more points  Prior to restoration of their driving privileges, the driver must complete this 6 hour DMVS licensed course.

Drivers under 18 years of age who accumulate 4 or more points in a 12 month period will have their driving privileges suspended for 6 months.  Completion of this 6 hour Defensive Driving Program is required prior to restoration of driving privileges.

LICENSE RESTORATION-OVER AGE 21

If a Georgia driver accumulates 15 points within 24 months, the Department of Motor Vehicles Safety will suspend their driving privileges for 6 months. Completion of this 6 hour Defensive Driving Program is required prior to restoration of driving privileges.

If a licensed driver accumulates 15 points within 24 months for a second time, within a 5 year period, the Department of Motor Vehicles Safety will suspend their driving privileges for 1 year and the completion of the same 6 hour program is required.
